What are Cacao Ceremonies?

Sacred ceremonies have been practiced for thousands of years, dating back to the Mayan and Aztec cultures of Central and South America. Traditionally, cacao is used as a sacred plant medicine to support spiritual guidance, inner healing, awakening, and deeper connection with oneself. By consuming pure, heart-opening cacao, participants may experience feelings of euphoria, emotional release, and a heightened sense of loving energy throughout the body.

What to Expect

Each ceremony is unique and depends on the facilitators. You can expect elements of movement, sound healing, singing, and occasionally, yoga nidra. All ceremonies include sharing of sacred cacao, followed by a deeply relaxing and meditative sound journey to enhance and integrate the heart-opening experience.

Sound healing has ancient roots, originating in Tibetan and Himalayan traditions where monks in Nepal and Tibet conducted healing ceremonies using sound. The vibrational frequencies produced by the bowls assist the body’s natural healing processes, helping to release stagnant energy and restore balance. Music evokes memory, stirs emotion, and brings us back to our true selves.

The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras was among the first to prescribe music as medicine. During the ceremony, various instruments including Himalayan and crystal bowls will be played, as you rest and strengthen your connection to your higher self.

Beyond its spiritual effects, cacao also supports physical wellbeing. It can aid digestion, stimulate the nervous system, and enhance overall mood and vitality.

Isabelle Tellenbach

As a trained nurse, people and health have always been very important to me, however in my mid-twenties, life “paralysed” me. My path was intense and beautiful at the same time.

In the course of my life, through my own experiences and numerous illnesses, I started to think more holistically. I realised that emotional, physical and mental balance lead to a healthy life and being. This is why I like to combine different therapies such as yoga, breathing, meditation, sound, rituals to name a few. I continue to educate myself and learn more through the journey of life and my experiences.
